The international symposium entitled “Corporate Expectations for Women PhDs” was held at Ochanomizu University on March 7, 2017. This was our second event since holding the first one, the Kickoff Symposium, three years ago. One hundred and seventy people from industry, government, and academia gathered in this symposium.
After a greeting speech by Ms Mutsuko Inoue (Director of University Promotion Division, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), keynote lectures were given by the guest speakers, Mr. Zane Zumbahlen (Vice President, IBM Japan) and Ms. Kumi Arakane (Board Director, KOSE Corporation).
Subsequently, there was a brief introduction of our leading program (Professor Furukawa, Program Coordinator) followed by students’ presentations. The students also posted their major research contents and PBTS outcomes, and then a panel discussion was held at the end of the symposium.
Following the symposium session, an exchange meeting was held for networking, where students enjoyed communication with the participants.
