Place:PBTS Room 605, Graduate School of Humanities & Sciences Building, Ochanomizu University

Our program welcomed 20 overseas students who were participating in the “Ochanomizu University Summer Program 2016” from partner universities.

In the morning session, Project Associate Professor Eddie Foley gave a class on “Surviving the Anthropocene: Global Warming, Renewable Energy, and Nuclear Power”. After a lecture on the Anthropocene, global warming, and renewable energy, students worked in small groups to construct and test a new type of solar cell. Then students engaged in a discussion about nuclear power in Japan.

In the afternoon session, participants joined a special PBTS poster session. SC teachers briefly introduced themselves, our graduate program, and PBTS, and PBTS students introduced their projects. Then a poster session was held where the visitor students learned about our program and PBTS directly from students and SC teachers.

During the poster session, all of the summer program students had a fun learning about, and making, mathematical Origami that was provided by Dr. Ghourabi, while they enjoyed eating Eddie’s homemade cakes and cookies.
