Essential Mathematics for Global LeadersⅠ 2014年10月6日開講

Dahan特任准教授　イノベーションを起こす人材となるための要件は、専門分野において学位を授与されるレベルの深い専門性をもち、物理・数学・情報の異なる専門分野にまたがる新たな課題を見出し解決していくだけの基盤力を有することです。グローバル理工学副専攻では、基盤力強化のためのコースワーク（イノベーション創成基盤科目）を設置しています。
　この度、このコースワークから、Essential Mathematics for Global LeadersⅠを開講することになりました。講師は、お茶の水女子大学リーディング大学院推進センターのXavier Dahan特任准教授が担当します。
　この科目は、グローバル理工学副専攻の履修科目（必修）になっていますが、博士前期・後期課程に所属する学生で関心のある方は、どなたでも履修することができます。なお、講義は英語で行われます。

本講座の趣旨

   Mathematics is often considered as a convenient language in Science. Indeed, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Finance, each scientific disciplines hold at different level some numbers, equations, statistics, modelization problems etc. The objective of this course (Essential Maths I & II) is to provide the foundations to become more autonomous and confident in handling the mathematics occurring in other sciences. Another aspect is to get acquainted with fundamental mathematical terms in English.
   More specifically, Essential Maths I is targeted to students who have not attended a math course since some time and as such, the main purpose is to reactivate basic mathematical notions already learned. But with the hindsight and maturity gained by graduate students, therefore the topics will not be covered in details (as a consequence at a rather fast pace). Also, topics will be illustrated by examples from other Sciences.
   If time allows, some new materials like infinite series or multivariate functions may be taught. It is important in Mathematics to practice in order to grasp knowledge, therefore some short Practice Sessions will be set (ideally, with the software Mathematica). Essential Maths I is also supposed to prepare to the course Essential Maths II which will cover more advanced topics at the undergraduate level.
