Title:
Using new ICT to promote physical activity

Abstract:
Physical activity is recognized as one of the most powerful preventive medicine. Clear physical activity guidelines are regularly published by public health agencies. For instance, the world health organization currently recommend 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per week. Despite abundant scientific evidences, the level of physical activity continue to decline in modern societies, contributing to the current metabolic disease ‘pandemic’.
In the past decades, video games as well as other screen activities (TV, computer) have been viewed as unhealthy activities because they favor sedentary behaviors. However, some recent innovations in information and communication technologies (ICT) might be able to promote active behaviors in sedentary people.
During this weekly lunch seminar, we will talk about some of these promising technologies.
