Transdisciplinary Engineering

In light of the significant societal changes occurring, it is crucial that we pursue not only pursue economic development, but also meet society's diverse needs. To achieve this, we need to combine engineering with cultural and societal knowledge in order to create value from a variety of perspectives. A diverse pool of skilled personnel is particularly important in manufacturing and technological innovation. Therefore, closing the gender gap in engineering and supporting women with specialised expertise have become urgent priorities.Against this backdrop, Ochanomizu University has established the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Engineering to promote collaboration between engineering and cultural and social knowledge. The faculty's goal is to develop technologies and cultures that foster a safe, secure, and comfortable society. The Master's Programme in Transdisciplinary Engineering embodies this philosophy, offering an advanced, practice-oriented curriculum designed to develop highly specialised experts with the necessary skills and leadership abilities.
